This refers to the article “Delhi still not within striking distance” by Aijaz Zaka Syed. The next prime minister of India will be elected by people of India, not by US citizens or Pakistanis. And Narendra Modi was recently elected by people of Gujarat third time in a row.
Further, he is the most popular leader in India, ahead of Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party and even Nitish Kumar of Bihar. Also, despite best efforts of several parties and groups, he has been found not guilty by the Indian courts — the same courts which convicted some other individuals in 2002 Gujarat riots.
Time to get rid of personal biases and wishful thinking and accept that Modi is a leader who is not corrupt, has not promoted his wife or children, provided good governance and is an inspiring leader — something we do not find in the whole sub-continent. — Ravi Seru, By e-mail
